General Info
TimeBank is a student-led two-way volunteering project, where
participants exchange skills and services amongst themselves.
Everyone is welcome to join. This semester we are going to
be working within the local communities as well as the University.
The time spent helping out, is credited to ones account and
for receiving a service, ones account is debited. One does
not need to be in credit to start spending, but the motivation
is to build a network of services and skills which can be
offered and received without the worry of finances. The bank
of skills and services is a repository from all the participants
who are offering them in return for something else. There
is a broker who coordinates the exchanges and keeps track
of the time spent by participants. Currently the services
being offered include help with course work, proof reading,
befriending, English, foreign languages like French, Spanish
& Portuguese, Dance, visiting museums, London guides,
cookery, gardening, help with organising events, form filling,
help with locating course materials, IT and the Internet etc.
If
you have a skill that is not being offered please get in touch.
Also there are fun events organised during the semester. Currently,
there is a Poetry workshop running, to introduce participants
to writing poetry. Contact the broker to find out about joining
this class.
